We are more than meets the eye.

I obviously picked the title of this blog for more than a blatant Transformers reference. Well, perhaps not 'obviously', but I did. It was for a philosophical reason, to be quite honest.

Are we, as humans, more than meets the eye? At first glance, we're obnoxious, narcissistic, jerks. However, beneath the surface, do we have the ability to be... more? Truly, this cannot be all there is to us. There are more than two layers to each of us. There is a third layer, a middle layer beneath our outer and inner layers. Like pie.

If you'll excuse a blatant Dr. Horrible reference, of course. But truly, what is our defining feature? Is it our inner layer? Is it our outer layer? Or is it our third layer? Quite frankly, which of these defines our person? And furthermore, who are we to decide this? Does it vary from person to person, which layer shows who they are?

So there you go. The reason for the blog title. Transform and roll out.

Insane ramblings for thought

It is in these moments, these moments in which I feel rather 'alone', that I find my brain at its highest productivity. I've come to the belief that the reaction is caused by my natural ability to stop crying and pull myself together. It's not really a 'want' so much as a 'need'. Then again, I have a high resiliency. Is there a point to this statement? Indubitably.

In essence, I'm curious as to the 'standard' level of resiliency for man. Is it right to be broken up over the death of a relative for merely an hour? Or should you focus on it for years and years, never truly being 'happy' again? Food for thought.

Of course, the answer to that one is rather obvious. But here's one that's a bit LESS obvious: Say you're in 'love', or whatever you wish to call it. And the person 'breaks your heart'. How long is the standard waiting time before being truly 'happy' again? Should it tear you up inside and cloud your opinion of relationships in general? Or should you learn from it, and put your best foot forward?

Most wish to choose the latter. But here's another thought: What if the first one is, in and of itself, exactly the same as the latter? Food for thought.

Introduction

I'm not really good with starting things. I start off too fast in races, thus tiring myself out; I start novels with 'hi, this is what I'm writing about'; I start blogs with crappy first posts. You get the third. So here we go. This blog is going to discuss philosophical matters. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'll occasionally cover things having to do with the media, if it has to do with whatever tangent I'm on. For example, if Transformers is relevant to something having to do with Socrates, Transformers will be brought up in discussion. This blog is more than philosophy, actually. It's more... my views on certain matters, and the world in general.

Expect an abundance of cynicism.
